Music Education Concerts
Conservatory of the Ozarks offers free music education concerts to public & private schools, daycares, and preschools in the Springfield area. These free presentations are interactive sessions featuring of a variety of musical instruments and the foundational principles of music.
The content of each concert is determined by the needs of each school. Typically faculty members from the Conservatory will cover basic information about music fundamentals, composers, and instruments during a typical presentation. Most concerts include demonstrations of a variety of musical instruments and interactive instruction on the foundations of music.
The content of the concert can be designed around a focus on a specific composer or musical instrument, etc. if desired. For example, one school's students were all learning about Beethoven one month so the Conservatory's music presentation centered around Beethoven and his compositions for a variety of musical instruments. Another school was preparing for a music contest so the Conservatory's vocal faculty offered a masterclass for the honors choir.
Musical Instrument Petting Zoo
Following the presentation, students are invited to touch and feel the musical instruments in the Conservatory’s portable musical instrument petting zoo. School may choose to opt out of this part of the presentation due to time constraints or other factors.
Each presentation is tailored to the individual school’s needs. The school can pick the length of time for the presentation. The presentation can last anywhere from 15 minutes up to an hour, depending on the school’s preference. The length of each concert can be tailored to fit the needs of each school. For example, younger children in a preschool setting may need a 15 minute long program whereas a 60-minute presentation may be more appropriate for teenage students in a high school. Conservatory faculty will arrive about 30 minutes prior to the presentation to set up for the presentation and the musical instrument petting zoo.
Conservatory of the Ozarks music education concerts are completely FREE. The school pays no fee for the presentation. The Conservatory is very grateful for any exposure gained during the concerts. If the school is willing to send home a Conservatory flier to the parent student the week of the concert, we are super grateful! Each flier has a gift certificate for one month of free lessons at Conservatory of the Ozarks. If a school is willing to mention the Conservatory in a newsletter or website, that is also wonderful! But even if a school cannot do any of those things, the Conservatory teachers are still happy to provide the school with a presentation free of charge.
Any school, home school groups, daycare or preschool is eligible for a presentation. High schools, elementary schools or middles are all eligible for a FREE music education presentation. If you have a group and would like to determine if you are eligible for a free presentation, please just call the Conservatory at 417-592-1756.
Audience Age & Size
Conservatory faculty are happy to provide a free concert for students of a variety of ages, from toddlers to adults. Each concert can be customized to fit the individual group's needs.
Aside from spreading musical knowledge, the Conservatory's faculty hope to spread awareness about music lessons through these free music education concerts. Anything a school is willing to do to help spread the word about the Conservatory is greatly appreciated. Some schools mention us on their website or in their newsletter for example.
We ask to send home a scholarship certificate for a month of free music lessons to the parent of each student in the school. However if the school is unable to do this -- the Conservatory is still happy to come and provide the free music education concert.
